Does anyone have any ideas how a small Squadron with 5 or 6 active members can raise money this spring? We are hurting for active membership and we would like to incorporate a membership drive together with a fund raising event.
One way to raise money with a tight budget is to purchase a roll of double sided tickets, that is tickets with numbers on both sides which allows you to give half to customer and keep other half for drawing purposes, and sell 50/50 tickets at any function your post commander will alow you to sell them at. The positive side of this venture is you know any tickets you sell will generate a 50% return. We usually sell tickets for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00 and get great response from our participants. You could also do this at your squadron meetings with the potential benefit of increasing attendance as other members become aware of the posibility of winning .
This takes some doing but I have raised quite a bit by doing a cookbook. That's right a cookbook. You can have one person designated as the editor and people can post their recipe's on line. They usually cost about $3-$3.50 each and you sell them for $15-$20. For more info you can contact me @ dbrhbutler@aol.com
There are also all kinds of things such as barbeque, chicken, fish fries. The main thing is to sell tickects in advance!! And charge $1 more at the door. This gives the members a reaon to buy in advance. And at every event do a 50/50 drawing. We also had a Nascar jacket that we sold 100 tickets at $5 each. We raised over $400 just for that. Good luck.
