Farewell Message from Det. Commander Tom Chebro

June 7, 2010

To all Legion Family Members;

This has been a year I will never forget. You have made the Detachment of Georgia shine in the eyes of the nation and I thank you very much. As it has been said before, Membership is every-body's job. Thanks to your hard work. The Detachment has reach an all time high in membership. We have meet our pledge of $10,000 for CWF,and we have work hard for three new Squadrons.

Being elected as your Detachment Commander was a high light in my life. I have traveled to places in Georgia I didn't know existed. I have seen the true meaning of Legion Family at work. My trips to the VA Hospitals showed me that the care for our veterans is second to none. I had the honor of traveling with the American Legion's National Commander Clarence Hill. At every stop people came to hear him speak in numbers that were something to behold. The Department of Georgia showed Commander Hill true southern hospitality. Where else but in Georgia can you close a main highway during rush hour. American Legion Riders; Thank you. Another first for Georgia. We had the honor to elect SAL National Commander Mark Arneson back in August 2009. During his homecoming once again Georgia shined. I can't say thank you enough to all those who have worked to make this Detachment what it is today.

In closing. We still have a long way to go.With a new group of officers taking control, we need to work just as hard. We raised the bar high. now its up to us.

Thank you again for allowing me to be your Detachment Commander.

For God and Country
Tom Chebro
